I am an Anglican who came to the Christian faith at the age of 26. I am convicted that the “Constantinian Shift” has done severe damage to Christianity and the Church needs to separate herself from the state and return to a “New Testament” understanding of the faith. The Radical Reformers of the 16th Century, the anabaptists that were persecuted by the Lutherans, Catholics and others, actually got it right and the Church now needs to embrace the gospel of pacifism of the early church. We need to return to the attitudes of the Church found in the Sermon on the Mount and the first 5 chapters of the Book of Acts.
Preach it, brother! It is time to hear your voice.
Yeah! I don’t like the half truths of the Constantine descended churches. The sad part is most don’t even realize they are half truths and consider the full truth of obeying Christ heretical, conservative, or legalistic. It’s amazing how many people want Jesus as savior but not Lord or teacher. I’m looking forward to reading more from you.
I found a paper for you from my Dean! It is specifically on John’s influence on the gospel of Luke. So, it is not a broad overview on the Primacy of John, but it gives you an idea of what a minority of scholars are saying. I believe it places John to be written in the 60’s or 70’s.
